Educational Advocacy

With over 15 years experience in private and public school settings, Dr. Lostan works with families to help represent the best interest of the student in the special education process. The special education process can be intimidating, overwhelming, and confusing. An advocate is a professional who has extensive training and experience in the special education process, and will work to ensure the child is receiving a fair and appropriate education as to which they are legally entitled by FAPE and IDEA. Dr. Lostan is a Doctor of Psychology, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Licensed School Psychologist, and Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Advocacy may include but is not limited to:

  • Review records such as IEPs, progress reports, and diagnostic reports;

  • Diagnostic Evaluations (e.g. autism, specific learning disability, ADHD, and other childhood psychological disorders);

  • Educational Program Evaluation;

  • School Observation;

  • Psychological, Educational/Academic Testing;

  • Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Intervention Planning;

  • Consultation for Parents/Educators;

  • Participation in the IEP process to help bridge the gap between what the child is receiving and what is most appropriate for the child to make meaningful progress.
